The Quality Assurance and Improvement System of the Faculty of Medicine of Rijeka

The Quality Assurance and Improvement System of the Faculty of Medicine of Rijeka is based on the principles, criteria and methods for planning, following, evaluating and suggesting the measures for the system improvement, according to the criteria listed in the  Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education Act „Standards and guidelines for  quality assurance in the European Higher Education Area“, Statute of the University of Rijeka and Statute of the Faculty.

In addition to the Regulations on the Quality Assurance and Improvement System of the University of Medicine and the Manual for the quality of studying of the University of Rijeka, the Quality Assurance and Improvement System is also defined by the Regulations on the Quality Assurance and Improvement System of the Faculty of Medicine of Rijeka, as well as by the Manual for  the quality of studying of the Faculty of Medicine of Rijeka.
 
The aim of the Quality Assurance and Improvement System of the Faculty of Medicine is the continuous promotion of the culture of quality and the construction of institutional mechanisms for the systematic assessment and coordination of initiatives and development programmes, with the permanent aim to assure and improve the quality and promotion of high standards for the professional and vocational development of students, lecturers, associates, administrative and technical personnel, administration offices, library staff, as well as external associates in all the areas of activity of the Faculty.
 
Politics of Quality

According to the mission, vision and aims of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka, defined in the strategy of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka 2010-2015, the Faculty commits to a continuous development of the quality system in all the segments of its activity. The politics of quality is based on :
• developing a quality system according to the European, national and university standards and guidelines for quality assurance, and promoting an active role of all the organisational unit's parts, as well as an active student participation at the quality assurance system
• establishing, maintaining and continuously improving the quality management system
• increasing the recognisability and competitiveness of the Faculty of Medicine as a higer education institution, adapted to the market's requests, with a clear strategic development concept, primarily based on the study outcomes
• strengthening the Faculty of Medicine as a dynamic research centre, characterised by interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary scientific projects
• connecting teaching and research, as well as strengthening the Faculty of Medicine's active role in the development of the economy and the community in which it works
• the continuous monitoring of the quality of work indicators and a periodical revision of the politics of quality and strategy of the Faculty of Medicine, based on the indicators
• creating an active and stimulating work environment
• transparency and responsible business
